Pennington County Dog Ordinance
August, 2019 from Bill Colson – One of our neighbors was bitten by a neighborhood dog while walking around Pioneer Circle. For some time, several neighbors have expressed concern about dogs in our area that are not fenced or restrained in any way. These dogs have made people very uncomfortable and there have been occasions of injury from dogs jumping on walkers or their dogs. Now that someone has been bitten by one of these dogs, I feel compelled to stress that this cannot be allowed to continue. We live in a wonderful area and Pioneer Circle is a great area
If you are approached by or feel uncomfortable because of someone else’s dog, I recommend that you either notify the owner, if known, or call animal control at 394-4132 or the Pennington County Sheriff at 394-6113.
From Sue Anderson – Pennington County has an ordinance that states … IF your animal leaves YOUR property, they MUST be contained.

SD Wildland Fire Program
There is a tree thinning program offered by the State of South Dakota Wildland Fire Division. They will match up to $800.00 per acre for tree thinning (up to 6.5 acres).
They provide a list of approved contractors and you call 3 or more contractors from the list to get bids on thinning your property. You then submit the 3 bids to the SD Wildland Fire Division and they will match up to 1/2 of the lowest bid (or $800 per acre, whichever is cheaper).
Contact Cassie Christy of the State of South Dakota Wildland Fire Division at 605.394.5203 if you are interested.
